10tacle Studios, publisher of the upcoming Xbox and PC GTR driving game, signed a licensing deal with a property that should stay as far away from behind the wheel as possible: Oktoberfest. The German festival that celebrates all things beer will have its own PC, console, and mobile games. 10tacle also caged Wies’n Wastl, the event’s canine mascot.
10tacle hasn’t yet tapped the keg of sudsy details on the game, revealing only that international brand notoriety of the festival was reason enough to suck up the license. Frank Holz, marketing director of 10tacle, said, “Groups of tourists from every part of the world find their way to Munich in time for the Oktoberfest. Be it people from Australia, Japan or America–everybody wants to experience the ‘Bavarian spectacle’ first hand.”
Oktoberfest originated in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese, and takes place yearly in Munich, Germany. This year’s events will kick off on September 18 when the mayor of Munich taps the first keg. The celebration is accompanied by a smorgasbord of food, carnival rides, and hangovers.
